Rumor has it that Anchor’ll also be offering the hop luscious Humming Ale full-time starting yesterday, and that makes Cock Ale very happy indeed.

The Black Keys “Sinister Kid” is wholeheartedly my favorite jam of the summer. As it inspires me to do ill-advised backflips off of rope swings into the American River and break my fingers still intertwined with rope, it makes me think of all the heart-attack emergency room visits my 1yr old son is bound to give me as he plays out the folly of his own youth. In this particular fantasy of my kid’s potential future, its the mid-seventies and he’s hittin’ the abandoned pools Z-boy style.

“A sinister kid
Is a kid who
Runs to meet his maker
A child thats sprinting
The day hes born
Straight into his Makers arms
And thats me, thats me
The boy with the broken halo
That’s me, thats me
The devil wont
Let me be”

John Sanatar made Wooly Pig Porchetta the other day. Here’s how you do it. Take the belly of a world-class Italian (edit: Hungarian) Mangalitsa Wooly Pig. Expertly butcher it so one side of spareibs is still attached. Debone those ribs, and roll those layers of succulent rib meat, belly fat, and then finally crispy skin into a rolled up yummy galaxy of oink. Tie it together, slow and low roast until the paradise miasma occurs several hours later.

"I’m a former sniper. Brewing without knowing my efficiency would be like me taking the shot without windage and range dope. I would more mash blind than I would fire blind. Of course if you put enough lead downrange your bound to hit the target at some point. But I want to make the shot the first time and every time. The more I can tune in my scope (efficiency) the better my shot (wort)."

John ‘broke the oven’ Sanatar will be serving world class homebrewed helles and wooly pig porchetta this evening. We salivate over haunches. The best butchers use their hands.
